The ultimate aim of divine revelation is LOVE (1 Tim. 1:5).
The character of this very particular love is revealed in Gal. 5:22 - JOY is
love's strength, PEACE is love's security, PATIENCE is love's endurance,
KINDNESS is love's conduct, GOODNESS is love's character, FAITHFULNESS is
love's confidence, GENTLENESS is love's humility, SELF-CONTROL is love's
victory (The Open Bible). YOU are the scroll upon whom God writes this love
letter (2 Cor. 3:2). Your HEART is the only substance on earth able to receive
this divine inscription (2 Cor 3:3). All our religious discussion, teaching and
activity are utterly meaningless if we fail to present our hearts to the
purposes of God's LOVE inscription (1 Cor.13:1-3). The Spirit continues to
write on our hearts as we behold Christ (2 Cor. 3:18).

MAINTAINING A PURE HEART
Your heart is like the mirror-surface of a dam in or through
which you view reality. Most of the waves and ripples that distort reality,
causing heartache and pain can be traced to the stones that you allow into your
''inner space''. Once they land on that surface the effect is predictable.
Purity is a personal prerogative. ''Guard your heart more than anything else,
because the source of your life flows from it.'' Prov. 4:23
HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL
I have never met someone who does not believe in family in
their heart of hearts. It is arguably the most unfailing common denominator in
the hearts of people all across the planet. We spend thousands of hours and
huge amounts of energy and money over many years on our families and
friendships to build relationship and somehow secure a lasting and meaningful
rapport that will withstand the ups and downs of circumstances and the
unpredictability of human emotion. Why then do we at times argue so vehemently
against a hope that stretches beyond this short and often unsatisfying life?
The very existence of the saying "hope springs eternal" proves that
the human heart longs for a place of uninterrupted security and bliss in
relationships. That place exists and there was a Man on a cross who procured it
for all who are willing to honestly face this universal inward desire as well
as the evil propensity to deny it and reach out with the hand of faith to
receive the gift of eternal life. Why wait? John 3:16....
GET YOUR DUMMY AT THE DOOR
It
is surely an endearing thing to see a baby with its nappy on and dummy in the
mouth, but what would you say if you saw a twenty-year-old with a nappy and
dummy? How about hundreds of these "babies"
together? The New Testament teaches
without any equivocation that God desires to see all His children come to
maturity. "Until we all...become
mature" (Eph. 4:13).
Unfortunately
the reigning church culture of our day is almost preprogrammed to maintain its
members in an infantile stage of spiritual development. When a church culture
is primarily focused on numbers it is not surprising to see multitudes of
"babies" together in one building in a permanent state of juvenile
leader-dependence. Sómething has to be done to grab the attention of
these fidgety little ones. Consequently
programs and entertainment almost always take precedence over discipleship
within this culture. To be sure, seeing so many babies together looks
impressive and even successful, but we have been called to be a growing
"body', a living temple, and an army of God - not a daycare facility.
According
to the New Testament the purpose of the gospel and church life is bringing us
to spiritual maturity in order to move our focus away from ourselves and onto
those we need to disciple in all the nations of the earth (Mt. 28:19), with a
view to théír maturity in Christ. If we remain in the same dependent
relationship with leaders and teachers for decades we have a serious problem! It is imperative for the health and future of
the true church that we reach a maturity that enables us to fellowship with one
another on equal terms as those who have received a "like precious
faith" (2 Pet. 1:1). Our roles and
responsibilities will always differ, but our relational reality múst mature
into the rich enjoyment of our shared heritage in Christ. The alternative is scary - relationships that
stagnate in a static and lifeless structure.
Something that moves and yet has no life in itself we call a
machine. God is looking for a living and
growing organism, not a machine.
17:27

'Totdat ons almal kom tot…’n volwasse man"
(Efes. 4:13).
Ongelukkig is ons gemeentekultuur dikwels vandag as't ware
in programme, eerder as dissipelskap. Soms
dekades aaneen is daar groot fout! Daar moet 'n plek kom waar ons as volwasse

HUMANISME IN ‘N VROME SONDAGPAKKIE
God is geensins tevrede
óns sake “so mooi reël” nie.
is.
Of is
‘n respons by jou uitlok?
Dweper?
Nee, ware dissipel. Eerlikheid met
jouself is die begin van verandering. Erken
en bely as jy jou fokus verloor het. God
sal jou daar ontmoet.
