Christ lives in every true believer, but not all
believers live with the same mindset or perspective. There are really only two mindsets
and they are radically different mindsets.
You either live with the Adamic religious mindset or
you live with the mind of Christ (1 Cor. 2:16). Your mindset is the lens
through which you see and interpret everything in your life. If you do not
embrace the mindset of the New Testament (the "mind of Christ") you
will never become a mature Christian.
The Adamic religious mindset is focused on self, it is
inevitably occupied with imperfection and it thus relentlessly attempts
different processes to change the status quo of imperfection. The true
Christian (New Testament) mindset ("mind of Christ") is focused on
Christ, occupied with the perfection of his Person and his redemptive work and
it requires only one element in order to be, as it were, activated in and then
through us. Revelation!
We need a personal, inner revelation of Christ more than
anything else we could ever think of. Most of Paul's documented prayers for
believers in the New Testament were focused on the need for this revelation.
Why? Because obviously Paul lived with this second mindset. It was the lens
through which he saw everything and unless you understand this you are never
going to grasp his letters or those of the other apostles for that matter.
"Do not be conformed to
this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you
may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and
perfect." Romans 12:2
